High-precision seal seam inspection

Perfect seal seam quality for blister packaging with sterile barrier systems

The automatic inspection system made by KOCH checks the quality of the seal seam of each individual blister pack during the production process. It works reliably, precisely, and non-destructively to fulfil the highest safety and quality standards. Continuous monitoring ensures that every package fulfils the most stringent requirements, resulting in fewer complaints and improved inspection quality.

30 percent lower inspection costs

50 percent higher inspection quality

Improve your inspection quality by up to 50 % and check the quality of the seal seam of each individual blister pack during the production process. Reliably and non-destructively.

Save your resources for the production, take the pressure off rare specialists - and increase quality assurance.

Use state-of-the-art technology and reduce batch returns up to 10 %.

Every single inspection is documented electronically in the audit trail.

Save costs, unburden your team, minimize batch returns, elevante your quality assurance and and retain your customers’ loyalty with the visual seal seam inspection of KOCH.

How the seal seam inspection system works

Ultra-precise detection of seal seam defects

The visual seal seam inspection system precisely detects even the smallest defects and anomalies in the seal of every blister pack. This ensures that only flawless products of the highest quality leave the production line.

Holes and particles / contamination

Holes and contaminants are shown in the seal seam.

Algorithm evaluation Holes

The system detects holes by comparing them with the reference seal and marks them in yellow.

Algorithm evaluation Contamination

The system detects contaminants by comparing them with the reference seal and marks them in green.

Seal seam width

To check the seal seam width, the system records both edges of the seal seam and carries out a distance measurement.

Seal open

The system has identified a non-conforming sealing flap.

Algorithm evaluation Seal open

Non-conforming sealing flaps can be detected if the sealing surface is visibly open (see white areas).

Holes, channels, contaminants larger than 75 µm, narrowing, over/under sealing: The inspection system specializes in identifying types of defects that can impair the quality of the seal seam.

Implementation process

Seamless integration in your packaging machine

We would be happy to develop a proof of concept with you and clarify the following as well as other questions in a preliminary meeting:

  • Should all packaging, individual cavities be checked per cycle or spot checks?
  • What are the image resolution requirements and how large is the field of view?
  • How are the cavities aligned on the format?
  • Which material characteristics and packaging shapes need to be considered?
  • What types of defects need to be detected?
  • Which measurable criteria or challenge parts should be defined?
  • Which calibration method should be used to qualify the system?
