Protecting the product, presenting the brand in an appealing way, conserving resources and achieving full recyclability: We can deliver on all these objectives. With different types of packaging made of eco-friendly materials: cyclePac® and cycleBox® mono-material packaging, cycleForm® and blisters made of sustainable film. All our sustainable packaging is stringently tested and can be easily, safely and productively processed on KOCH packaging machines.
Packaging is sustainable if it makes a substantial contribution to the three major objectives of the EU regulation that will come into force in 2025: Reduce - Reuse - Replace. Intelligent processes and technologies reduce packaging material consumption already in the process, e.g. by reducing film thickness or minimizing sealing edges and waste grids.
cyclePac® is a 100% recyclable, mono-material packaging made of cellulose. If requested, we only use FSC-certified cardboard or recycled paper. cyclePac® consists of a cardboard tray and a backing card and is suitable for sturdy, securely sealed products of daily use. And, with finishing by embossing, high-quality printing or lacquering, also for higher-priced articles.
cycleBox® combines the best of cyclePac® and conventional cartons: The innovative packaging form is a fully recyclable mono-material carton. As with blister packs, loading is carried out using the established top-loading process, and existing feeding equipment can be integrated into the process. A special feature of the cycleBox® is that the sealed edge is invisibly folded inwards – all outer surfaces can be seamlessly printed in advance and optimally used for product presentation. Flat blanks are sealed in the packaging machine using the heat-sealing process, thus facilitating the recycling process as soon as the packaging is created.
Folding boxes have been firmly established for decades as a universal form of packaging and presentation in retail and as a practical storage option for consumers. Traditionally used primarily as secondary or tertiary packaging, e.g. for blister packs, today’s new and eco-friendly versions are also used as primary packaging for sturdy consumer goods, either individually or in sets.
This new packaging alternative – ideal for protecting sensitive products from dust –uses fiber material of biological origin. The formable paper was jointly developed by KOCH and the Technical University of Dresden. The packaging is characterized by an agreeable, soft feel and rounded edges. The slight wrinkling is process-related and can be controlled for an attractive appearance.
Another example from our expanding portfolio of environmentally friendly packaging types are blisters made of sustainable films, either completely or using a high percentage of recycled or bio-based material. These films can either be recycled or are biodegradable. All currently available films are ideally suited for processing on KOCH blister machines. Temperature behavior, load and peel capability have been rigorously tested and validated by compelling results.
Excellent packaging quality: That is what our machine solutions are built for. But every solution includes a whole lot more: knowledge of future requirements, which we respond to with innovative technologies and environmentally friendly equipment features. For a smaller ecological footprint.
