However, it also serves – and this is no less important – as an information carrier as well as a brand ambassador, influencing preferences such as consumer purchasing behavior. In the healthcare sector, we also offer packaging machines tailored to the special and sensitive needs of individual customers in the medical or pharmaceutical sector. This also includes sterile packaging that is designed to ensure product sterility right up to the point of use. In order to ensure that even the biggest projects run smoothly, KOCH Project Management coordinates all the projects and teams involved from start to finish. The following services are included in the machine price:
- Project manager serving as the customer’s main point of contact
- Planning and prioritization of project tasks
- Creation of a project schedule in MS Excel/PDF (including: key milestones, monthly reconciliation)
- Equipment design review
- Monitoring and documentation of project progress
- FAT (factory acceptance testing/product acceptance test at the manufacturer’s site) in the presence of the customer
- Coordination of machine delivery incl. installation, commissioning, and SAT at the customer’s site
The provision of further services can also be arranged within the scope of extended project management:
- Systematic control and documentation of project changes
- Regular coordination meetings
- Split scheduling of design review dates to accommodate design progress status

Packaging of sensitive products must meet the highest safety requirements. Manufacturers of medical and pharmaceutical products are therefore required to prove through validation measures that certain procedures and processes are exactly reproducible. Risk-based qualification of equipment sustainably ensures process stability and robustness in the production of healthcare products and is mandatory from a regulatory perspective.
KOCH has therefore been supporting customers in just such projects for many years and, if required, handles the complete qualification of complex production equipment. Based on our extensive experience, we have been able to develop a comprehensive service package, which is documented during the course of the project in compliance with standards and directives (based on GMP, FDA, GAMP 5 and ISO guidelines). This comprehensive service package for the qualification of production facilities includes:
- applying KOCH’s long-standing experience and know-how,
- documenting processes in line with relevant standards and guidelines throughout the project,
- qualification based on GMP, FDA, GAMP 5 and ISO guidelines, as well as
- requalification measures or individual validation requirements, as requested.
Qualification according to the above-mentioned standards is at the heart of the European and international regulations for the healthcare sector. The KOCH qualification service in documentation and testing thus also carries the medplus® brand.
During the qualification of packaging machines, we check and document the technical aspects of a packaging system over the entire course of the project. If included in the scope of the order, all process- and quality-relevant measuring points are also checked at the same time (or calibration is carried out). Our extensive know-how and long-standing experience in the field also make KOCH a strong partner when it comes to machine safety. Our design engineers prepare a risk assessment for each system in accordance with the statutory machine guidelines. To this end, a team of machine safety technicians inspects each individual machine as prescribed by the applicable directives and carries out the necessary measures, such as marking hazardous points.
