BEST PRACTICE VICTORINOX

VICTORINOX USES THE
‘SWISS ARMY KNIFE’ OF BLISTER MACHINES

Victorinox is a global company that has five product categories: Swiss Army knives, household and professional knives, watches, travel gear and fragrances. The long- established Swiss brand is best known for its ‘Swiss Army Knife’ that has been manufactured for over 100 years in Ibach-Schwyz in the heart of Switzerland. Over time, numerous knife variants were added, and the range now extends from the small paring knife to the Officer’s Knife with 33 functions.

Task

  • Design of a highly flexible machine for packaging over 100 different products
  • Resource-saving operation
  • High requirements for anti-theft protection of the packaged products
  • Fast format changes
  • Further use of existing format parts

Solution

  • Compact machine based on the KOCH Blister Machine KBS-PT with octagonal pallet transport
  • Products are manually inserted into the blisters, followed by a front card placer, a cover card placer, a sealing station, and a product remover
  • Two integrated labelers for barcodes, radio frequency (RF) or acousto-magnetic labels for greater anti-theft protection

Results

  • Forming area: 250 x 500 mm
  • Forming depth: up to 67 mm
  • Sealing format: 320 x 600 mm
  • Simple and fast format changes
  • Up to 14 cycles per minute
(depending on film material, shape and size of blister, and process parameters)
  • Efficient use of energy and compressed air

We have been working with KOCH for more than 30 years and currently have two blister machines from Pfalzgrafenweiler in operation. We package more than 100 different products in materials ranging from cardboard mono-material packaging to double-carded theft- proof plastic blisters. KOCH works to superior technical standards and you can see that our companies share a similar philosophy – especially as regards quality, sustainability and flexibility.
